Rustic Wedding Table DecorIsn’t this beautiful?  Rustic weddings seem to be extremely popular these days and these projects would be perfect.  I just love the flowers and the tinted jar.  You don’t have to be planning  a wedding to use these ideas.

It’s easy to find out how these were done.  Just subscribe to Craft Project Central and subscribe for the month of August.  And if you’d like to see more of Christy’s designs, check out her website.

Bright and Beautiful StarLove the new catalog!  I made this shaker card with the Bright & Beautiful stamp set.  Sure, it’s presented as a Christmas set,. but why limit it?  I used is as a congratulations card here with Night of Navy layered over Whisper White card stock.  With a little careful inking and the use of the Stamp-a.ma-jig you can make the greeting say Bright & Beautiful followed by “Shine with happiness.”  I used the Stars Framelits to cut a window in the navy layer and a frame from Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper.  I punched the bottom of the navy layer with the new Confetti Stars punch and punched the scraps of glimmer paper to make the confetti to fill the shaker.  I cut another frame from fun foam for a spacer between the Window Sheets for the shaker.  Lovely, if I do say so myself!

I demonstrated this card for my September Paper Play Day.  We used the Lucky Stars Textured Embossing Folder on the Night of Navy layer.  It really stepped up this card!

10ths Metric Beveled Ruler, 6"10ths Metric Beveled Ruler, 12"

OK, this is not my usual post, but I am so very excited to finally find these rulers!  They don’t look special, but they measure tenths of inches.

I bought a ruler like this maybe 15-20 years ago.  I have used it a lot!  It’s got ink stains all over it.  I fear losing or damaging mine.  I do not loan it out.  I have wanted a replacement.  So every new office or art store I enter, I search all the rulers.  No one seems to carry them!

Why would I care?  If you know me, you know that I love to work on the computer.  I do a lot of designing on my laptop and I’ve done this for years, long before becoming a demonstrator with Stampin’ Up!  If I want to make something on the computer fit something I can hold, the computer wants the fractions in tenths.  If I want 1 3/4 inches, I need to enter 1.75, but I have to get out a calculator to convert 5/8″.  All that becomes much easier when your ruler is divided into 10 marks per inch instead of 8 or 16.

I’ve used my tenth inch ruler for:

  • Word Tables that must fit a label or punch
  • Printing names, etc. on pre-printed documents (like awards or paper with borders, etc.)
  • Working with ink and paper stamps an My Digital Studio
  • Converting a stamped shape to digital form for my e-cutter

I even searched Amazon for tenth rulers.  Amazon sells everything, right?  I couldn’t even buy it from Amazon!  They did lead me to Dick Blick Art Supplies.  Frankly, I found their website hard to navigate.  Well, today I persisted.  They have not only the 12″ ruler, they also have a 6″ version which I think will be very handy to have around.  These links should lead you to the 12″ rulers and the 6″ rulers.  Yep.  I bought several, perhaps a lifetime supply.  I may even loan one out now and then.

Gift Box Punch Board The products from the new Holiday 2014 catalog are here!

This lovely box was made with the Gift Box Punch Board and went together really quickly.  The punch board makes boxes that don’t need any adhesive. The punch board shows 3 sizes of boxes that can be made with 8″ x 8″ card stock.  The video below shows a fourth size box that can also be made with the same size card stock.  These boxes are quite elegant, if I do say so myself.

I decided to demonstrate these boxes at my September Paper Play Day.  Click below for the supply list and directions.

In this video I show how to make an extra size box not shown on the printed chart.  I have a new chart with lots of extra sizes you can make.  Here’s a preview, but the pdf file shows not only the 15 sizes, but an extra 13 for a grand total of 28 boxes you can make with this punch board.

Click here for the full chart. And March 17, 2016 I added a video to explain the footnotes.

Sea Street Summer Fun EnsembleIf you’re like me, I’m not ready to give up on summer just yet.  Sure, the kids may be heading back to school, but I’m retired!  🙂

The set will help me enjoy summer a bit longer.  After all, now that the kids are busy, the beach is less crowded.

I just love the porthole on the card with its mini brad rivets.  I also love the little flag banner on the bucket.

If you’d like to join me and hold onto summer a bit longer, swim on over to Craft Project Central to subscribe to the August projects.  Click for Julie Warnick’s blog.
