I attended OnStage Live, a convention for Stampin’ Up! demonstrators. This year celebrated the company’s 30th anniversary. It’s an opportunity to learn about new products and techniques and to celebrate achievements. We also “swap” cards and projects we’ve made with each other. There were people swapping basically any time people were not hurrying from one room to another. But there are also “organized swaps” where we sign up ahead of time to exchange where everyone gets a card from everyone else in the group. I had the honor of participating in an organized swap organized by Monica Davis. They were very talented demonstrators, so I was a bit intimidated. But I was very pleased with my project. This photo does not capture the dazzling shine of the Sparkle Glimmer Paper I used for the dragonfly or the Glossy Paper I used for the border. There’s some sparkle inside as well.

You could use the front of this card as a very quick and simple Christmas Card or you could use the fancy fold as I did. When you open the card, it opens up to a viewing window with lots of depth. It’s one of those “Wow!” cards that looks difficult, but it goes together quickly.

This card has simple elements that can be changed out for a completely different look. The Buffalo Check stamp provided the  Shaded Spruce background for this card, but change the color, swap out the Thank You Thinlit for the Happy Birthday Thinlit or a stamped greeting, and perhaps punched element for the leaf and it gives a totally different card.

I used the Stamparatus. I think it works great for the large background stamps. And if you don’t get a perfect image the first time, just stamp again with no worries about getting it in the right place. The other thing the Stamparatus allows us to do is to emboss with any color! Stamp once with the color you want. Clean the stamp with the Simply Shammy. Then stamp again in the exact same place with Versa Mark and use Clear Stampin’ Emboss Powder.

One of my all time most popular YouTube videos is the treat bag below. I made these in 2015 and you can find the original post here. Shelli Gardner, the cofounder of  Stampin’ Up! had demonstrated a similar project. I CASE’d it, copied it, but made it my own.

Since that time, most of the products I used have retired. I decided to make an updated version of this project… but I didn’t have much in the way of current Halloween themed products. The Gusseted Bags we carry now are smaller and I didn’t have any of them anyway. But my good friend Jeanne gave me a bag and some of spider web pieces cut with the Black Foil Sheets and the die from the Cauldron Framelits. The entire Toil & Trouble Suite of products would be great for this treat bag and the Spooky Sweets Bundle would be great as well. The paper I used instead was Festive Farmhouse Designer Series Paper, a Christmas themed design but I altered the color. I’m pleased with my new version.

Halloween is almost here, but you can still make this project. The only essential element of this project is the Gusseted Cellophane Bags. Use a different Designer Series Paper, altering the color as I did. Use ink to make a doily black instead of the spider webs. Or make it for another holiday or event. I’d love to see photos of your version!

Here is Caroline’s take on the treat bag. She made them for her grandson’s class. Nice job!

The Country Home stamp set gives me such a feeling of peace and home… at least the country home I wish I’d had. I confess I grew up in the suburbs of Los Angeles and you’d have to look hard for country life there. A girl can dream, can’t she?

This card is basically a variation on the “Joy Fold” layout. It’s kind of a Z-Fold Joy Fold mash up. I’ve added an extra fold and turned it on its side. I don’t think I’ve ever even seen a card quite like it, much less made one. I like it! It’s quite easy. I really do wish I had more of those delightful Galvanized Buttons. I was fresh out, so I made do by making a paper button from the Galvanized Paper. I’ve listed both in the products links. If you order the buttons, you won’t need the Galvanized paper or any of the punches.

My goal is to show at least one project each month that does not need the Big Shot or any expensive tools. This is that project. You could even substitute bits of cotton glued on to save a bit more money. You can do this project!
