I totally loved all the new Halloween products in the Holiday Catalog, but sorry to say, I just can’t buy it all. So I decided to make this Halloween Treat Bag with a stamp set that’s been around for at least 14 years, Lovely as a Tree, and Itty Bitty Greetings which has a greeting for just about everything you might want. Then I added a punch or two and a couple of new embellishments.

As soon as I saw this stamp set, I knew I needed it for my granddaughter’s birthday. I’m not sure the sparkle shows up on film. There is sparkle on the Balmy Blue layer and on the fairy’s wings and the flowers, as well as the Sparkle Glimmer Paper layer. It’s really quite easy,, designed for a beginner stamper. All it takes is pixie dust and a few supplies from Stampin’ Up!

The Blended Seasons stamp set is a large set that comes in two cases. There seasonal stamps that make this set great to use all year. I’ve made cards coloring in the flowers with Stampin’ Blends and the Watercolor pencils, but I did a different technique for this card, stamping Whisper White card stock randomly with a stamp from Timeless Textures. I think the pattern really goes well with the curlicue pieces in the coordinating Stitched Seasons Framelits. Did you see the stitching on those Framelits? Yep! These dies put stitching on both sides of the cut, so whether you’re cutting out an opening, a layering piece, or an open frame like I did here, you will have stitching. I sure hope to see that show up in upcoming Framelits!!

Old Style Case Storage

New Style for 2018

You do not need to invest lots of money to keep your stamp space tidy. This stamp pad storage costs pennies… 1/2 sheet of card stock for each stamp pad plus a sheet of foam core board for strength and separation and a bit of time. You can arrange your stamp pads any way that makes sense to you. I now have mine sitting on my window sill with a shelf over it keeps my stamp pads handy but off of my limited counter space. I could move them back to the cabinet where I had them before, but that cabinet is now filled with stamps, punches, and all those other supplies I keep in stamp cases. My entire stamp storage is 56 1/2″ wide and 3 1/2″ high. Another arrangement could be the In Colors on a 5th row and the specialty inks on the end.

I’ve been meaning to try this Bridge Fold layout. I think it’s very clever. I have seen some with a bridge that can fold down to make a kind of table. It’s great for a barbecue, kitchen stove, dresser, or that kind of thing. I went simple with just a vine. I used Animal Outing. I just love all the animals in this set! I thought the giraffe worked best, looking over the vine bridge.

My friend thought this card was going to be a lot of work. She imagined we’d be tearing and pasting all the little red (Cajun Craze) dots, but the Framelits did all the work for us. If you don’t have a Big Shot, you could substitute a bit of the coordinating Designer Series Paper over the side and bridge panels and just cut out the giraffe’s head with Snips.

The watercolor technique is perfect with the Touches of Texture stamp set. I used the colors in the Garden Impressions Designer Series Paper. I think this card would work for just about any event and the sentiments in Another Wonderful year give you lots of options.

I designed this card with the new stamper in mind, but I couldn’t help myself. I had to add a bit more texture with the Subtle Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing folder. The pattern is so subtle, it’s difficult to photograph. Stampin’ Up! used to sell plain and textured card stock and this folder adds a similar texture. Of course, using the embossing folder means you will need a Big Shot, something the new stamper may not own. You could certainly use Watercolor Paper instead of the regular Whisper White Card Stock I used. That would give you the texture without the Big Shot.
