Springtime Hello with Hexagon Hive 1-11-14

What a sweet card!  It must be honey from bee that makes it so sweet.   The Hexagon Hive Thinlit makes it easy.  Tip:  Use wax paper from the kitchen between the card stock and the die so the pieces will pop out.  Use the cut out hexagons to decorate this card or another one.  The hexagon punch works well to show off the flower from the Springtime Hello stamp set.

This is another one of those thrifty cards using every little bit of paper.  The Designer Series Paper uses measurements evenly divided by 12, the dimensions of the paper.  The Tangerine Tango is also just about 1/8′ of a sheet of card stock.  The 2 poppies that are cut out came from the portion hidden by the Whisper White layer.  There was even enough to cut out slivers with the Word Window Punch to frame the greeting.  The Whisper White is just a bit smaller than that, but the left-over strip is used for the greeting cut with the Word Window Punch.  If you decide to use the Decorative Label Punch for the greeting instead, you can take it from a layer inside the card and then replace that with a punch from the Tangerine Tango.

And isn’t this stamp set wonderful?  I sure hope this gets carried over into the new annual catalog!  I think it’s a keeper!

The Flip Flop card could not be easier than with the Label Card Thinlit.  Pop less than a half sheet of card stock in the Big Shot with the die and you’re practically done!  But we didn’t just leave it there.  We added some layers, ribbon, and an In-Color Boutique Detail.  We cut “Hi” with one of the extra pieces from the Thinlit set.  A tip:  Use some wax paper between the die and your card stock to help release the paper after cutting.  We stamped with The Best of Flowers set.  Lovely!

One big stamp for the background, a greeting, and some a little extra bit of stamping for grunge.  We used the Decorative Label Punch to get the top edge of the banner.  Add a bit of Chevron ribbon.  Designer Series Paper peeks through the Chevron Punches.  Then we lined up the punched pieces to decorate the inside.

I’m not sure the White Washing technique shows up in this photo, but it helps to bring out the poppies in real life.  I have been trying various ways to use every bit of paper and this was one of those. I cut out both the Daffodil Delight and Baked Brown Sugar layers at the same time.  Punch the Oval for the greeting from the center of the Daffodil Delight layer, then divide the rest in fourths to spread out for the border.  Add a tiny bit of ribbon.  The background is embossed like a watermark.  The focal layer is embossed with White Embossing Powder, painted with White Craft ink, then when dry, painted again with the colored ink.
