Pop-up Layer Cake 5-12-12

This card uses simple slits and folds to add a 3-D pop to cards.  We made them into a birthday cake and on the instructions you’ll see a wedding cake I made with the same method.  I have also seen this technique used to make stacked birthday or Christmas gifts or baby’s building blocks.  It’s all in the way you decorate it.

I saw this card at a regional convention and had to try it.  Score across the Scallop Square at matching scallops, a couple of snips and a bit of tape and you have a cute little box.  Then of course we made the mini cards to go inside.  The Diagonal Plate on the Simply Scored made it easy to make the matching envelopes.  Great for a hostess gift.

A few folds in an 8 1/2″ x 11″ sheet of paper and one cut gives you 2 diagonal pockets that can open for an inside greeting too. We embellished a card for the back pocket and put a gift card in the front one.  Add a bit of embellishment and you’re done!

Embossed Resist – Hello Doily 10-8-11

This card is really gorgeous in person, if I do say so myself.  You would think there’s an actual doily on the card!  Stamp the doily, emboss with White embossing powder, and keep on hand for just about any event.  Sponge with an appropriate color, add as sentiment, and you’re ready to go.  This photo shows a spider and Basic Black sponging for Halloween, 5-Petal Punched flowers and Cherry Cobbler sponging for Christmas, A Basic Pearl embellishment and Crumb Cake sponging for a lovely wedding card, Pretty in Pink or Pink Pirouette sponging would make a nice card for a baby shower, 5-Petal Punched flowers and Perfect Plum or Old Olive for perhaps a birthday or even get well.  You get the idea.  This is a great card to keep on hand!  And to think it requires very few tools: Hello Doily and Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp sets, Whisper White or Naturals White card stock, White embossing powder, a Heat Tool, and one or more stamp pads.
