Clockworks Card 4-13-13

There are lots of layers of stamping.  We had to fussy cut the watch, but it looks great in the Brushed Silver card stock and the Window Sheet clock face.  The dog tag was embossing powder, believe it or not!  No, it’s only faux stitching on the banner, but you’ll want to touch it to prove it to yourself.  A great masculine card.

This card looks complicated, but it’s just a basic 4 1/4″ x 11″ card base with an extra couple of folds.  We added a panel inside for the view out the window. It folds flat and fits in a normal envelope, but pops up for dimension.  The farther apart you put the folds, the deeper the view.

We made our own printed paper by stamping on Creped Filter Paper.  Cut a slit and fold it back to peek at the larger feather underneath.  I adore the Antique Brads!  We highlighted them by ringing the button with a Scalloped Circle Punch.

Stamp the oval background and the greeting on top.  Add a bit of Designer Series Paper, ribbon, and a button.  Done!

Step it up with a layer to frame it.  Dye the white Baker’s Twine with ink refill.  It’s still quick and easy.

I tried the Chalkboard technique for these cards.  Instead of black we used Midnight Muse.  I think the sentimental look works well with the chalkboard.  I’m wondering if it would work better on black, but I like it this way too.  The one on the left was done without a Big Shot.

Step it up with Window Frame Framelits and texture with the Square Lattice Embossing Folder.

Did you know you can use Embossing Powder on metal?  I bought inexpensive mail boxes from Target.  We embossed and added a bit of ribbon and punches.   I saw how to punch an arrow with the tag punch.  Who thought of that?  I wish I knew!  The mail box is ready for valentines.  Be mine!
