This is my #simplestamping card for this month. Perhaps it’s not technically simple stamping. It is just stamps, ink, and paper, but I have added a layer and I used a stamping technique called “two-step stamping.” I usually start with the more solid image.
This photo shows just the outline stamp by itself.
This photo shows what you get with “two-step stamping” when you stamp the outline right over the solid image.
In this case, I did try to line up the images. You have to look closely to find the matching petals. There is one petal sticking out by itself. Can you spot it at the top of these pictures? There is also a skinny petal by itself pointing to the bottom right corner. But there are a few other skinny petals that look a lot like that one. This is a photopolymer stamp, so you can look through the stamp to line them up. But honestly, I only tried to line them up for this photo. Most of the time, I made no attempt at all to line them up. It looks just fine. The image is sharper when lined up, but very few people will notice or care. The image in the finished card was not lined up. The leaf stamp works the same way. It is easier to line up, but again, don’t worry if you’re off. It will look pretty anyway!
Click here for the free detailed directions and watch the video below. This stamp set is one you can get free during Sale-a-Bration, which runs through September 2021. This is a “level 2” option. The list of supplies I’ve suggested below total You’ll need to order $100 and then you can select this stamp as your free gift. So I put together a list of everything you need to make this card and also give you a great start if you decide to get involved in creating custom made cards. You’ll want to order these products from my online store at Stampin’ Up! Click the individual products you need or the “Add All to the Cart” button. I listed the stamp set last, as it will need to be added to your cart separately as your Sale-a-Bration item.
I included the Stamparatus in those “Beginner” products. It is one of our more expensive products, but I believe it’s a very good starter tool. It will replace the clear block for any size stamp. If you bought the whole Clear Block Bundle, it’s a lot more than the Stamparatus. New stampers are often afraid when they first put an inked stamp on their card. The Stamparatus takes away that fear. And if you don’t get a good image on your first try, it allows you to ink again and stamp in exactlythe stamp place. There are some other fun features and techniques you can use with the Stamparatus as well. Here are some other choices. In the catalog, Stampin’ Up! suggests Clear Blocks a, b, c, and e. You could get by without the a and b blocks, but you will need the e block for the flower stamp if you decide to use blocks instead of the Stamparatus. That’s very large block to use for the rest of the stamps in this set. It’s always better to have the block be just a bit bigger than the stamp.I also suggested the Classic Stampin’ Spots, but you might prefer the full size stamp pads. And you may decide you want more than just the two sheets of Shaded Spruce that you would get in the Regals Card Stock Assortment. And Basic White Card Stock and Medium Envelopes are always a good idea. And I’m also listing the Paper Trimmer which is much easier (and safer) than using a knife with a sharp razor blade and a ruler!
It’s always a good time to join my team! Save Money or Make Money, but Sale-a-Bration brings extra incentive!
