Yep. You read that right. Regular heavy-duty household aluminum, glued to card stock for strength, and run through the Big Shot in an embossing folder. We did the flip flop by getting fancy with the cutting plates on the Big Shot. Sounds harder than it really was. Try it!
A few folds in an 8 1/2″ x 11″ sheet of paper and one cut gives you 2 diagonal pockets that can open for an inside greeting too. We embellished a card for the back pocket and put a gift card in the front one. Add a bit of embellishment and you’re done!
I saw this use of the Mini Milk Carton die and couldn’t wait to try it! You just cut 2 pieces with the die and add 2 panels with the extra piece. I decorated it here with French Foliage. Love it!
I’m not sure what you call the accordion folded embellishments…. lolly, medallion, rosette? There may be more names for them, but I called them addicting! Stampin’ Up! sells a die for these now, The Designer Rosette Bigz XL die, $42.95 #125594. I don’t have the die, so I make them fairly easily with the Simply Scored Tool. A tip:Score a full sheet of Designer Series Paper then slice it into strips 1″ wide or more. I used the Simply Scored tool to add a border to the card base too. I combined the lolly on this card with a large button. I sponged a little Shimmer Paint on the inked stamp to add some sparkle.
So sweet! It doesn’t show up in the photo, but Crystal Effects on the jar really adds to the look.
This fancy fold can also look like a graduation mortar board.
