Evernote is a free app that I have used to create a searchable catalog. This video shows how to search. You may hear the surprise in my voice as I tried to show an Evernote fail. I planned to show ways to fix it. Evernote didn’t fail. Evernote has improved again!

I was just helping someone on Zoom today, the very afternoon after I posted this video. Since I was able to see her screen, I could see that the tags didn’t pop up as suggestions on her computer. It also seemed that the quotation marks were needed to force Evernote to search for multiple words as a unit. In the video, I searched for Old Olive and I was surprised that Olive Branch didn’t show up. We didn’t try that on her screen, but I am assuming her search results would include Olive Branch. Evernote would search for the word old, olive, and anything with those letter combinations, so gold, hold, fold, etc. would also show up. Just put quotation marks on “Old Olive” to force Evernote to only look for Old Olive together as one thing.

I usually try to talk people out of upgrading to a paid level of Evernote, but the new search features may make it worthwhile!
