Stampin’ Up! Colors in Spectrum Order

I’ve been asked for the Stampin’ Up! colors in spectrum (rainbow) order. It’s not too difficult to put a few colors in rainbow order. Most of us can agree about rainbow order with red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and violet.

But try add in lighter colors like pink and colors mixed with grays and it starts to get complicated. Sorting out nearly 200 colors gets extremely difficult. You really need more of a giant color wheel with several concentric circles.

If you ask 20 artists to come up with their opinions of rainbow order of that many colors you’re going to have at least 20 different answers. I tried to focus on which color had more red, then orange, then green, and so on. I know as soon as I put them in order I wanted to switch things around over and over again. I decided to just leave it as it is. It should give you a good starting point if you’re looking for a certain color.

The numbers in the left column are my own numbers. I put the colors in the order of when they were first available. Usually there are multiple colors added at one time, so I put them in alphabetical order. Perhaps I should have reversed that, going Z to A because YoYo Yellow has is #1 and Almost Amethyst is #48. And then I realized that Basic Brown was only an ink color and never a card stock color, so #54 shouldn’t really be there. Never-the-less, the numbering system has been helpful for me to keep track of the color order, especially as more colors are added.

Colors may not be precisely identical to Stampin’ Up! colors.
